Renowned Nigerian comedian Alibaba has candidly expressed his reservations about entering the political arena, citing the deeply flawed constitution and system as major deterrents.

During a recent appearance on the “With Chude” podcast, Alibaba didn’t hold back, asserting that even the most capable leaders would struggle under Nigeria’s current governance framework.

“Our constitution is crap; I can say it anywhere. If you bring Obama to run Nigeria with that constitution, he will fail,” Alibaba declared, emphasizing his belief that significant reforms are necessary for the nation’s political landscape.

In his discussion, Alibaba highlighted the pervasive corruption within the system, describing it as “so bad” and insisting that the constitution must be more robust.

“If you give me an appointment and you share 300 million, when I come out, I will say they gave me 300 million and I’m whacking this one first,” he stated, illustrating the temptations and challenges faced by those in power.

The father of triplets also reflected on the dangers of challenging the status quo, recounting the fate of a House of Assembly member who dared to speak out against budget padding.

“The guy didn’t see the light of day. That is the kind of situation that we have,” he recalled, underscoring the risks associated with transparency in Nigerian politics.

Alibaba pointed out that even those who attempt to advocate for change, such as protesters in the National Assembly calling for the right to choose their own leaders, often face dire consequences.

“Those kinds of people don’t last because the system would eat them up,” he warned. He expressed doubt about his own ability to endure in such an environment, saying, “I don’t think I will last. Some civil servants survive on the corruption of the ministry.”
