Joycelyn Savage, longtime partner and fiancée of R. Kelly, has broken her silence to fiercely defend the embattled singer and refute her family’s ongoing allegations.
Savage, 29, directly addressed what she described as a campaign of misinformation, saying she is not being held against her will, not brainwashed, and not a sex slave, as her family has previously claimed.
“I am not a victim,” Savage said in the emotionally charged video. “I am not a sex slave. I am not brainwashed or any of those crazy lies that were told on me.”
Savage and Kelly, who have reportedly been together for a decade and engaged for the past three years, plan to marry and start a family, she added. She also urged fans to “continue to pray” for the disgraced R&B singer, who remains incarcerated following multiple federal convictions.
Her public statement comes just days after her family publicly rejected a push for Kelly’s presidential pardon, citing his lack of accountability and what they allege is ongoing manipulation of Joycelyn.
According to attorney Gerald Griggs, who represents the Savage family, they haven’t had direct contact with Joycelyn in years—a point she doesn’t deny. She claims the silence is intentional, not sinister.
“I just don’t want to talk to them,” she said, chalking up the estrangement to personal reasons rather than any alleged coercion.
R. Kelly, born Robert Sylvester Kelly, was convicted in 2021 on federal racketeering and sex trafficking charges. The following year, he was also found guilty of producing child pornography and enticing minors for sex. Last week, he reportedly suffered a health scare in prison, allegedly the result of a thwarted plot to harm him.
As of now, Joycelyn’s family has not responded to her latest video. Their legal team also remains silent despite multiple outreach attempts.
