INEOS shakes things up again at Man United with new decision

INEOS has reportedly made another decision, which many believe will further shake things up at Man United’s Old Trafford after the Ferguson shocker.

INEOS has reportedly made a bold move by cancelling the annual Christmas party for Man United staff, signalling Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s firm approach since taking over at the club. This decision follows the recent removal of Sir Alex Ferguson as the club’s global ambassador, a role he had held since stepping away from management in 2013.

According to The Athletic, the cancellation of the Christmas bash is part of broader cost-cutting measures implemented by Ratcliffe and INEOS after acquiring a minority stake in Manchester United earlier this year. These changes have also seen several senior staff members lose their club credit cards and being required to contribute to travel expenses for events like the FA Cup final in May.

Despite these cutbacks for the staff, Manchester United players will still have the opportunity to celebrate the festive season, subject to manager Erik ten Hag’s approval. The team is set to play Brentford at Old Trafford on Saturday as they look to end their five-match winless streak across all competitions.

In addition to these changes, Ratcliffe has also stopped paying Sir Alex Ferguson his £2.16 million annual fee for his role as an ambassador. Although Ferguson’s ambassadorial position has ended, the former manager will continue as a non-executive director at the club and remains a welcome presence at Old Trafford.

Since taking a 27.7% stake and gaining control over football operations, Ratcliffe has introduced several cost-cutting measures, including the release of 250 employees, as part of his plan to streamline operations at Manchester United.
