Real Madrid will be without one of its first-team players, Rodrygo ahead of this weekend’s El Classico against Barcelona.
Several media outlets confirmed the news on their official social media accounts on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. Rodrygo was substituted in the second half of the UEFA Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund. This injury is just four days before th El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, October 27, 2024, making his absence a blow for the Galacticos.
What happened to Rodrygo?
The midfielder was substituted after he felt discomfort in his right hamstring during a critical moment in the match, while he successfully retrieved a nearly lost ball, leading to Lucas Vazquez’s goal that completed Real Madrid’s 3-2 comeback against Dortmund.
He was replaced by Aurelien Tchouameni in the 85th minute after being unable to continue. After being substituted, Rodrygo was seen with ice wrapped around his leg, a clear indication that the injury could be more serious than initially expected.
How long will Rodrygo be out from the Real Madrid squad?
There are reports that Real Madrid’s medical team plans to conduct further tests to determine the full extent of the injury. However, a preliminary assessment is scheduled for Wednesday, the more detailed MRI scan is set to take place on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
