Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has revealed that her Lagos office was severely damaged by a fire that broke out on the evening of Tuesday, July 8, 2025, around 7:00 p.m.
In an emotional post shared via Instagram, Ojo uploaded a video capturing the aftermath of the blaze. The footage showed heavy smoke damage on walls, charred furniture, and extensive destruction throughout the property. Chandeliers, staircases, and valuable office items were visibly ruined, with parts of the building completely burnt out.
This just happened today, the 8th of July 2025 around 7 p.m. My office building caught fire,” she wrote in the caption. “Thank you to the Nigerian Fire Service and my staff for salvaging what was left. Thankfully, no lives were lost. The devil tested us today, but God said no. With God on my side, we will bounce back bigger and better.”
While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, the swift response from the Nigerian Fire Service and the dedication of her staff helped prevent the total loss of the building. Ojo, ever the optimist, expressed deep gratitude that no one was hurt in the incident.
The news quickly garnered reactions across social media, with fans and fellow celebrities flooding the comment section with messages of support, love, and encouragement.
This unfortunate event comes just months after fellow Nollywood star Mercy Aigbe also suffered a similar loss. In December 2024, Aigbe’s Lagos home was engulfed by flames, reducing much of her property to ashes.
Iyabo Ojo has had a busy year, including the high-profile wedding of her daughter, Priscilla Ojo, to Tanzanian artist Juma Jux, a celebration that took place in both Nigeria and Tanzania.
Despite the setback, the actress remains hopeful and resilient. As she put it in her own words: “We will bounce back bigger and better.”
