Nigerian musician, Iyanya has clapped back at a troll who compared his career trajectory unfavorably to that of industry heavyweight, Wizkid.
The altercation began in a recent social media exchange, when the user @Xperience_Snr retweeted a post congratulating Wizkid for surpassing expectations and becoming an industry standard.
“Wizkid’s only crime is surpassing the benchmark set for him and becoming the benchmark himself,” the tweet read.
Reposting the tweet, @Xperience_Snr added his commentary, suggesting that Wizkid was expected to follow the paths of artists like Iyanya and Samklef, implying that their careers had fallen short of expectations.
“Same reason why Drake gets a lot of hate. The whole entertainment industry didn’t expect that little tiny white boy to get that far, Wizkid was supposed to end up like Samklef and Iyanya,” the user wrote.
Iyanya, however, did not take kindly to the comparison and responded with a sharp tweet directed at the troll. “You will end up like your father,” Iyanya’s scathing reply read.
The exchange stirred reactions across social media platforms, with fans and followers weighing in on the confrontation between the artists and the troll. While some supported Iyanya’s clapback, others criticized the intensity of his response.
