J Molley Opens Up About Past Struggles As He Announces New Chapter In Filmmaking. After years of highs, lows, and headline-making music releases, South African artist J Molley has officially stepped away from the industry that once made him a Soundcloud sensation.

J Molley Opens Up About Past Struggles As He Announces New Chapter In Filmmaking

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, the artist, whose real name is Jesse Molley, opened up about his transformation, his deepening faith, and his decision to walk away from music to pursue film and healing.

“To my supporters, brothers, and sisters,” the message begins, carrying the tone of both an apology and a declaration. “These last few years have had a lot of ups and downs—as many of you already know.”

Alongside the statement, Molley released a video montage that touches on key moments in his life, from a music-loving child to a young star navigating success and inner turmoil. The video also highlights a deeply personal revelation: multiple suicide attempts. Through raw narration, he recounts the pain of growing up without a father, who left to pursue his path in Nigeria, and how the only thing stopping him from ending his life was the thought of leaving his mother alone.

“While the video is light and fun in some ways,” he writes, “it also represents a big change in my life.” That change, he explains, came through spiritual rebirth. “I’ve let go of those old versions of myself and the emptiness I once carried since being born again through the Holy Spirit,” he shares. “I just can’t keep living in darkness or be part of an industry that resides in the devil’s playground.”

Having left music behind, J Molley is now stepping into a new chapter—one rooted in storytelling through film. He’s partnered with longtime friend and creative collaborator Timothy Barlin to launch a new film production company. Though details remain under wraps, he promises a full reveal, including a showreel of their work and an official company announcement.

“With the level of experience we both share, the sheer amount of equipment we own, and our newfound editing [skills] will blow you away,” he writes with excitement. “Where it goes from here, only God knows. But wherever He leads me, I’m going to follow.”

This message marks a defining moment in the artist’s journey—from battling inner demons to finding peace in purpose. For fans who have followed him from the chaos of his early days to the clarity of this new beginning, it’s a bittersweet but powerful turning point.
