‘Jagun Jagun’ Triumphs with Six Wins at the 2024 BON Awards

Femi Adebayo’s epic film Jagun Jagun emerged as the night’s biggest winner at the 2024 Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, taking home six impressive awards. The 16th edition of the prestigious awards ceremony, held on Sunday, November 24, at the Sugar Factory Film Studios in Ilorin, Kwara, saw Jagun Jagun shine across multiple categories.

Hosted by actress Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, the event celebrated the best in Nollywood filmmaking, with Jagun Jagun sweeping major categories. Femi Adebayo’s gripping performance earned him the Best Actor award, while the film also bagged honors for Best Costume, Best Indigenous Film, Best Production Design, and Best Special Effects. These wins solidified the film’s place as a standout entry of the night.

Another notable winner was Momiwa, which secured the awards for Best Editing and Best Screenplay, making it a strong contender in the competition.

Jagun Jagun, a Netflix original Yoruba film released in August 2023, tells the story of a respected warlord whose authority is threatened by the arrival of a young challenger. The film captivated audiences and critics alike, earning 12 nominations at the BON Awards.

The ceremony also recognized excellence across other categories, with Unknown Soja’s Wunmi Dada winning Best Actress, and Ada Omo Daddy‘s Mercy Aigbe claiming Best Supporting Actress. In the Best Child Actor category, Nifemi Lawal from Jagun Jagun was honored, while Ozechi Franklin Izuchuchukwu was recognized as the Most Promising Actor.

Other standout winners included Unleashed for Best Social Message, Offshoot for Best Sound, and Orisa for Best Use of Food.

Best Soundtrack: Oloku Ada

Best Use of Food: Nwanyi Abacha

Best Indigenous Film: Jagun Jagun

Best Child Actor: Nifemi Lawal (Jagun Jagun)

Best Child Actress: Darasimi Nadi (Unknown Soja)

Most Promising Actor: Ozechi Franklin Izuchuchukwu

Most Promising Actress: Chioma Okafor

Best Production Design: Jagun Jagun

Best Screenplay: Momiwa

Best Use of Food: Orisa

Best Kiss: Halima Ganiyu & David Akande (Eti Keta)

Best Special Effects: Jagun Jagun

Best Documentary: Is It Your Money?
