The German international confirmed that it was an easy decision for him to extend his contract with Bayern Munich.

I took my first steps in professional football here and firmly believe we can achieve something big with this club in the coming years. I feel at home both in Munich and at the club with our great fans. We’ve got a lot of things we want to achieve. I’m excited for everything that’s to come.”
Some top clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester City have shown interest in the midfielder in the past but this decision means they would have to find another midfielder as a replacement to fill the void at their club.
