Real Madrid’s forward player, Jude Bellingham could be suspended for 12 matches following his offence towards the referee against Osasuna.
Jude Bellingham was shown a straight red card by centre referee Jose Munuera in what the Englishman as termed as miscommunication between both parties. The referee’s report claimed that Bellingham told Munuera “f*** you”, which resulted in his dismissal during the first half of the game.
However, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti defended his player during the post-match press conference claiming that Bellingham had used the term “f*** off” instead, suggesting it is a phrase rather than a personal attack.
He said,
“I think the referee did not understand Jude Bellingham’s English. He said f* off, not f* you… that’s way different. I won’t talk more about the referee as I want to be on the bench next week.”
The Sun confirmed that Bellingham could be out for almost 12 games if the league body finds him guilty of the allegation against the referee based on what the disciplinary action of the Spanish FA highlights in its rule book.
What does the Spanish FA say about Jude Bellingham insulting the referee?
“The Spanish FA’s disciplinary Code says that any player guilty of “insulting, offending, or addressing the main referee, assistants, fourth official, directors, or sports authorities in offensive terms or attitudes” will be punished with a suspension of four to 12 matches.”
What did Bellingham say about the referee incident?
“I never insulted the referee, I am glad to see there are the videos to show the reality despite the referee’s report. I am here to apologize with my teammates as I put them in difficult situation today”
If the body decides to suspend him for 12 matches that means he could miss the rest of the 2024/25 season.
