Sean “Diddy” Combs has been ordered to remain in jail without bail until his federal sex trafficking trial. The judge decided against granting bail for Diddy following his arraignment on September 17, where he pleaded not guilty to charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.

The indictment alleges that Diddy coerced female victims and male sex workers into prolonged, drug-fueled sexual performances known as “Freak Offs,” and references an alleged attack on his former girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie. During the September 17 hearing in New York, the judge rejected a bail proposal put forth by Combs’ legal team. The charges against him include sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution, as detailed in a recently unsealed federal indictment.

Prosecutors alleged that drugs were discovered in the hotel room where Combs was arrested on September 16. At the hearing, Combs, dressed in a black long-sleeve shirt and grey sweatpants, stood to enter his plea. His attorneys had suggested a $50 million bail package, which included a $50,000 bond. However, U.S. Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky ruled against granting bail for Diddy, siding with the prosecution’s request to keep him behind bars.

The indictment accuses Combs of forcing women into extended, orchestrated sexual performances. Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson labelled him a “serial abuser and a serial obstructor,” citing a history of obstruction of justice and alleged bribery and witness intimidation. Combs’ lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, acknowledged Combs’ past issues, including drug use and problematic relationships, but argued that he is receiving the necessary treatment.

Agnifilo contended that the accusations stem from a long-term, consensual relationship that deteriorated due to infidelity, not coercion. Despite these arguments, the judge’s decision to deny bail for Diddy remains in effect as the case proceeds.

Recall that Sean “Diddy” Combs was taken into custody by federal agents on Monday evening at a hotel in Manhattan, New York. This arrest followed a grand jury indictment, marking a significant development in Diddy’s legal troubles, which had been ongoing for nearly a year, largely due to a civil lawsuit filed by his former partner, Cassie Ventura. This lawsuit reportedly led to at least ten additional legal claims against him.

Despite the accusations, Sean “Diddy” Combs had consistently denied all allegations. While the specific charges had not been publicly disclosed by the prosecutors, Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, expressed disappointment in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, claiming the prosecution was unjust.

Agnifilo highlighted that Sean “Diddy” Combs had voluntarily traveled to New York in preparation for these charges, stating, “We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Sean “Diddy” Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist.”

The lawyer also added that while Diddy is not perfect, he is far from being a criminal. “To his credit, Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation, and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court,” Agnifilo concluded.

The judge’s decision to deny bail for Diddy remains in effect until his trial.
