After nearly 12 hours of intense deliberations, the jury in the federal trial of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs informed the court on Tuesday that they had reached a verdict on four out of five charges but remained deadlocked on the most serious accusation: racketeering conspiracy.
In a note sent to U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, the jury explained that they are sharply divided over the racketeering charge, with what they described as “unpersuadable jurors on both sides.” The remaining counts—related to sex trafficking and the alleged transportation of individuals for prostitution—are reportedly settled, though the final verdict has not yet been announced due to the impasse.
Inside the packed Manhattan courtroom, tension mounted as the message from the jury was read aloud. Diddy sat silently, shoulders slumped, visibly shaken by the development. At one point, he rested his head in his hands while his legal team, led by defense attorney Marc Agnifilo, gathered closely around him.
Judge Subramanian declined to accept a partial verdict, opting instead to encourage the jury to continue deliberating. Both prosecutors and Diddy’s defense agreed on that approach, with the defense requesting that the judge personally reinstruct the jury in hopes of breaking the deadlock.
The unresolved racketeering conspiracy charge is the most severe, carrying a potential life sentence. The four charges the jury has reportedly agreed upon involve disturbing allegations of sex trafficking, including two counts that allege trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion. One of those involves singer Cassie Ventura, while another relates to a woman known in court documents only as “Jane.”
The remaining charges accuse Diddy of arranging transportation for the alleged victims and others for prostitution.
