Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi is rallying support for a second protest to demand justice for the late singer Mohbad, who tragically passed away under mysterious circumstances on September 12, 2023. The protest is set for Monday, September 30, coinciding with the coroner’s investigation into Mohbad’s death at the Lagos State Assembly.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Fabiyi urged the public to join him in a peaceful demonstration aimed at pressuring authorities to retrieve crucial CCTV footage from Mohbad’s residence. He believes this footage could be vital in uncovering the truth behind the singer’s untimely death.

“The police must access the CCTV footage; it holds the key to unraveling what really happened,” Fabiyi stated. He is also calling on Lagos lawmakers to establish a committee dedicated to securing this evidence.

Fabiyi’s protest is not only about seeking justice but also about compelling the Lagos government to take meaningful action. He voiced concerns that those responsible for Mohbad’s death are attempting to cover up the truth by spending large sums of money to create distractions and obscure evidence.

“It is imperative that we mount legitimate pressure and protest peacefully at the Lagos State House of Assembly on September 30,” he urged. “Those behind this heinous crime are spending millions to cover their tracks.”

The actor pointed out that the CCTV cameras at Mohbad’s home were operational and stored footage remotely, rather than on a DVR system. He expressed frustration over the police’s apparent reluctance to retrieve this critical evidence.

“We, the masses, do not want to take the law into our own hands; we need our elected representatives to step in and ensure the truth comes to light,” he added.

Fabiyi concluded his call to action with an invitation: “COME ONE, COME ALL, AND LET US SPEAK WITH ONE VOICE on September 30. This struggle needs you. Let’s be orderly and civil as we gather.”

Mohbad was laid to rest just a day after his death, and although his body was exhumed for an autopsy on September 21 at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), initial results revealed no significant findings. His family has since rejected these results and is demanding an independent investigation.

Monisola Odumosu, a member of the Aloba legal team, confirmed that a two-part autopsy is currently in progress, with the first phase completed and the second phase set to include toxicology and histology tests.

Earlier this month, Fabiyi led a crowd of protesters to the Ikorodu magistrate court during the resumption of the coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s death, further emphasizing the need for justice in this high-profile case.
