Kane Keid Speaks On Being Unfollowed by A-Reece On Social Media. In a candid new interview, Kane Keid opened up about his recent fallout with South African rapper A-Reece, following what seemed to be an unexpected social media move: A-Reece unfollowing him on Instagram.

Kane Keid Speaks On Being Unfollowed by A-Reece On Social Media

The two artists, who had once shared a creative collaboration, seem to have gone their separate ways, with Keid opening up about the situation after his remarks about A-Reece’s musical versatility. While Kane Keid made sure to acknowledge the positive aspects of their previous relationship, particularly the support he received from A-Reece and DJ Clen on a recent project, he also made it clear that the end of their association was more than just a misunderstanding.

“I want to shout out DJ Clen, and A-Reece for the put-on on the project. But the other stuff, I won’t actually mention too much. We could’ve had a conversation about it, but now it’s done, and it feels like bridges are burnt,” Kane Keid explained. “It could go down either way; with me, I’m cool either way, but it’s all love from my side still.”

However, things took a sharp turn when A-Reece reportedly unfollowed Kane Keid on social media. The news was initially brought to Keid’s attention by his followers, who were quick to tag him in the drama unfolding online. Despite the sudden social media break, Keid maintained a calm demeanour.

“I didn’t even check. People were tagging me like, ‘Yo, Reece unfollowed you.’ I’m like, I’m not even going to worry about that too much. It shouldn’t have been that deep,” Keid said. “It could’ve been handled better, but yeah, if the bridge is burnt, then I’m just going to light my way in this darkness with the fire from it.”

Keid was blunt when discussing the fallout, which stemmed from a comment he made about A-Reece’s versatility in comparison to Nasty C. In an earlier interview, Kane Keid had shared his belief that Nasty C, known for his genre-bending skills, had a wider range than A-Reece. This comparison did not sit well with A-Reece and his fans along with the tension that followed seemed to ignite the fallout.

When asked whether he learned anything from the ordeal, Keid was candid. “I don’t feel like there was a lesson in anything,” he stated. “People are so accustomed to tiptoeing around the conversation. This is hip-hop, by the way. You’re supposed to have real conversations. You’re supposed to be real as a hip-hop broer. I can’t tiptoe around your name; I don’t want to do that.”

Kane Keid further explained that in hip hop, stepping on toes and speaking your mind is part of the game, even if it leads to tension. “If you want to big step, you’re going to thread over a couple of toes. I guess that’s what happened,” he said, shrugging it off with a sense of acceptance. “But I’m saying I don’t think there was a lesson to take from it. Maybe the way I approached it, maybe the way I worded things could’ve been better, but saying what I think should not in any way change how I view speaking my truth.”

The fallout between Kane Keid and A-Reece may have been sparked by a difference in artistic opinion, but it has since become a broader reflection of the competitive nature of the South African hip-hop scene. For Keid, it’s about staying true to himself, even if it means burning a few bridges along the way.
