Here are key details shared in the media so far about the stabbing of rapper Tory Lanez in prison.

When Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, the world was watching. The court drama, the social media debates, and the backlash from fans and critics alike made it one of the most talked-about cases in the music industry.

It came as a shock to many when it was revealed on Monday, May 12, 2025 that Tory Lanez had been stabbed in prison with the rapper being rushed to the hospital.

On May 12, 2025, Tory Lanez was revealed to have been stabbed a total of 14 times by a fellow inmate at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi.

According to the statement shared on his Instagram account, the attack happened early in the morning. Lanez suffered seven stab wounds to the back, four to the torso, two to the back of the head, and one to the side of his face.

The injuries were so severe that both his lungs collapsed, prompting immediate medical evacuation to a hospital.

Is Tory Lanez alive?

Reports add that Tory Lanez is alive and that he was initially placed on a breathing machine, but as of the latest updates, he is now breathing on his own and in stable condition. His team says he is thankful to be alive and remains in good spirits despite the trauma.

Despite his incarceration, Lanez has managed to keep his music career alive. Earlier this year, he released an album titled Peterson, which was reportedly created entirely from behind bars using AI-generated vocals.

The project, which Lanez described as “the first real-time prison album,” debuted at number 25 on the Billboard 200.
