Reflecting on the recording process of ‘Maria,’ Korede Bello shared, “the producer, Drey, had been hitting me up on Instagram for a while about us working; impressed by his work ethic from his posts, I told my manager to arrange a session. We flew him down and made a lot of songs. One of the first songs we worked on was Maria“.
He went on to add, ‘the guitar you hear in the intro was me. That`s how the song started, I played the progression, and Drey laced the beats. Before I started writing, I knew I wanted to tell a story in the song. After the first draft, I felt the song needed something more, sonics-wise, so I hit up Altims to help beef it up because I trust his ears. After a lot of back and forth of ideas, we finally got it to where I thought the song needed to be. I was satisfied. Altims also mixed and mastered Maria.””
