Meet Lagos In Paris, the secretive West African electronic music trio making waves with their exquisite debut single, Mali Spirit. Released on February 21 via BLZ, Inside Records, and Believe, this track is a bold statement of their boundary-pushing artistry, blending organic instrumentation, hypnotic vocal loops, and deep house-inspired basslines with lush West African sensibilities.

The track seamlessly fuses the richness of traditional African music with the pulse of contemporary club culture, creating a sound that’s both infectious and immersive. Featuring Mandingo guitars, hypnotic vocal loops, and deep, groovy basslines, Mali Spirit pays homage to the Bolo Super, an 18th-century traditional dance from the Kroumen tribe of Ivory Coast and Liberia that’s still practiced today.

The accompanying music video, filmed in Abidjan, is a stunning visual representation of this heritage. It features two dancers reinterpreting the Bolo Super choreography across the city’s landscapes, creating a visually arresting performance that connects heritage with contemporary culture.

From the first note, Mali Spirit serves listeners with its unmatched creative direction. The instrumentation is beautifully layered, setting the perfect mood and bringing the song to life. The composition is well-structured, with each element—from the vocals to the beats—carefully arranged to enhance the overall listening experience.

The vocals come in and out with precision, adding a dynamic feel to the track. The fusion of traditional African sounds with modern electronic elements is seamless, creating a unique and unforgettable sonic journey.

With no fixed studio, their creative process is deeply nomadic, shaped by their travels and collaborations across Mali, Guinea, Senegal, France, Germany, and South Africa. This unfiltered authenticity is at the heart of their sound, which they describe as ‘Afraw’—a blend of house, techno, amapiano, and electronica with Afrobeat, dancehall, funk, disco, and reggae influences.

Mali Spirit is just the beginning. As the trio prepares for their debut EP, set to arrive in September 2025, this single stands as a bold introduction to their artistry and an invitation to experience the limitless possibilities of electronic music with West African sensibilities at its finest.

Mali Spirit is a testament to the power of music to transcend borders and connect cultures. Whether you’re a fan of electronic music, or Afrobeat, or simply appreciate innovative artistry, this track is a must-listen. It’s a celebration of heritage, creativity, and the universal language of rhythm.
