Barcelona’s forward player Lamine Yamal wrote his name into the history books of the UEFA Champions League against Inter Milan.
The Spanish international was one of the goalscorers in the first leg of the semi-final game against Inter Milan. Lamine Yamal started the comeback for Barcelona after they went two goals down in the opening 20 minutes.
Yamal broke the record by becoming the youngest player to score in the semi-final of the competition at 17 years and 291 days breaking Kylian Mbappe’s record of 18 years and 140 days. The match between Barcelona and Inter Milan was the joint-highest score draw in a UEFA Champions League semi-final along with Dynamo Kyiv 3-3 FC Bayern München in April 1999.
Hansi Flick showered praises on Yamal after the game following his impressive performance for Barcelona.
He said,
“Lamine has always done that. In the big games, he’s there… let me say he’s a genius. Lamine is always showing how good he is. I think he enjoys these moments too”.
Barcelona supporters will hope Yamal can replicate the same performance when they travel to Italy for the second leg at the San Siro.
