Rapper Lil Wayne is the centre of talks on social media following his recent shade at the Super Bowl 2025 halftime show in his Carter VI album announcement.

In a move that perfectly blends humour with marketing genius, Lil Wayne has revealed the release date for his highly anticipated album Tha Carter VI through a Cetaphil skincare commercial.

The rapper showed what many would prefer to categorise as his playful side following his disappointment at not being selected as the headline act for the Super Bowl halftime show scheduled for February 2025 whilst also shocking them with the Carter VI album announcement.

The commercial, titled “We’re All a Lil Sensitive,” cleverly weaves the album’s release date throughout its narrative. The date “06-06-25” appears on sports jerseys and a scoreboard, before culminating in a scene where Wayne declines Super Bowl tickets with a smirk, saying, “Nah, this is time sensitive.”

The final shot shows his studio door marked “Do Not Disturb ‘Til 06-06-25” with “Carter VI” written beneath. This sixth instalment in the celebrated Carter series marks another chapter in Wayne’s remarkable journey.

Since the series began in 2004, each release has captured a different phase of his evolution as an artist. The last entry, Tha Carter V, arrived in 2018 after multiple delays, making this new announcement particularly significant for fans.

Between these releases, Wayne hasn’t stayed idle. He’s delivered projects like No Ceilings 3, Funeral, Trust Fund Babies, and Tha Fix Before tha VI, maintaining his presence in the rap game.

But there’s something special about a Carter album – it’s where Wayne typically showcases his most focused and ambitious work.

As June 2025 approaches, the hip-hop world awaits what promises to be another milestone in Lil Wayne’s storied career. The way he’s turned a Super Bowl disappointment into an opportunity for creative marketing shows that even after decades in the industry, he still knows how to keep fans guessing.
