
Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has revealed why transpired between himself and Chelsea’s João Pedro after Sunday’s Club World Cup final.
The Spaniard international was speaking in an interview where he accused the Brazilian of overreacting by falling to the floor. Chelsea defeated PSG 3–0 with Cole Palmer scoring twice and setting up a third for Pedro all inside the first half, to become the first winners of the new Cub World Cup which did not sit well with Luis Enrique.
What did Luis Enrique say about the incident with João Pedro?
He said,
“What happened at the end of the match was a situation that everyone could have avoided. I tried to separate the players; there was tension. We should have all prevented the situation from escalating. I have no problem speaking up.
PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi also added his voice to the situation.
“We have the most disciplined and respectful coach in the world. He went to separate the ball and got pushed. You have to have respect for your coaches, too.”
However, FIFA are yet to release an official statement on the incident but fans expect a punishment for Enrique when the body gives its verdict.
