Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has made an unexpected return to English football this time not as a player but as a club owner.
Official reports have now confirmed that Real Madrid midfielder and football icon Luka Modric is now a minority shareholder in the English side of Swansea. Modric seems to have his eyes set on not leaving football at all as he looks to maintain his influence off the pitch with this partnership.
The exact financial details of the investment linked to Luka Modrić, the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner, remain undisclosed. Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Modrić is set to become a minority owner of Swansea City, a Championship club, with an agreement finalized.
Romano also confirmed that this development would not impact Modrić’s professional football career, as he plans to continue playing for Real Madrid, a commitment he reiterated last month. Former Tottenham player Modrić will join Andy Coleman, Brett Cravatt, Nigel Morris, and Jason Cohen as part-owners of Swansea.
American businessman Andy Coleman, who assumed control of the club in May 2023, promised to usher in a “new era” for Swansea City under his leadership.
