Maggz Breaks Silence After Fellow Rappers Defended His SA Hip Hop Legacy. Veteran South African rapper Maggz has broken his silence following a wave of support he received from the hip-hop community, particularly fellow artists MA-E, Blaklez, and Rouge, who recently came to his defence after a fan questioned his inclusion on a track alongside heavyweights Stogie T, A-Reece, and Nasty C.

The controversy began when a fan on social media suggested that Maggz should be removed from the collaborative track, claiming he didn’t measure up to the lyrical prowess of the other featured artists. The comment quickly sparked backlash, with many within the culture highlighting the disrespect shown to a seasoned lyricist whose contributions date back to the golden era of South African hip-hop.

MA-E, a longtime peer and Skhanda pioneer, was among the first to speak out, emphasising Maggz’s importance to the culture and calling for respect for those who laid the foundation. Blaklez also echoed those sentiments, reminding fans that hip-hop is about more than just clout—it’s about legacy, craft, and community.

Now, Maggz has responded—not with anger, but with immense gratitude. “Thank you to the hip hop community for holding me down 🙏🏾 you make me feel special and I love you for that and more ❤️ you’re all kin to me,” Maggz wrote in a heartfelt post.

He went on to reflect on the deeper meaning of the culture that shaped him:

“Hip-hop has always been more than just music, it’s a family, a support system, and a home for so many. The way you express that love and kinship speaks volumes about the culture’s heart. Our bond is sacred 🤞🏾 and thanks to people like you, our culture will always thrive.”
