Marie Chain is back with her energetic new single, “Holy Water”, the Berlin-based musician known for her unique blend of soul, Afrobeats, and blues, often referred to as “Global Soul”. This vibrant track, featuring powerful vocals, catchy melodies, positive messages, and groovy rhythms, is designed to keep listeners moving and inspired.
“Holy Water” combines bluesy Afro rhythms with soulful harmonies and gospel-like melodies, centred around a repeating “Holy Water” motif. This track acts as a musical cleansing ritual, encouraging listeners to let go of negativity and embrace transformation. Creating this track stemmed from a special moment in the summer of 2024, during a hike through the Bavarian Alps, where Marie Chain was inspired by a clear mountain stream. She explains, “I often write my songs while travelling. The music and lyrics simply flow through me, usually within a few minutes. I see myself more as a channel than as a creator of the music.”
Not long after, Marie Chain travelled to Luanda, Angola, where she was invited to DJ. The vibrant local Afrobeats scene deeply influenced her, and she quickly began studio work that shaped the sound of “Holy Water.” Returning to Berlin, she completed the track, imbuing it with her signature good-vibes energy.
Marie Chain is a soulful singer, pianist, DJ, producer, event organiser, and musical polymath who uses music to connect people across cultures. Starting classical piano and vocal lessons at the age of five, her artistry combines classical virtuosity with a modern sound. Her personality mixes the vibrant spirit of Berlin’s rave culture, the elegance of Marilyn Monroe, the strength of Lara Croft, the free spirit of a world-travelling Bohemian, and the resilience of Trinity.
Throughout her career, Marie Chain has collaborated with well-known artists like Alligatoah, Kontra K, and Porky von Deichkind. She has performed at prestigious international festivals such as the Cairo Jazz Festival and Indian Spirit. With over a million Spotify plays and releases on respected labels including Motor Music, A Tribe Called Kotori, and Tonspiel, her broad artistic range is clear.
In addition to her musical achievements, Marie Chain founded Freedom Festival Worldwide, an inspiring community event that brings together music, art, healing, and sustainability. The festival fosters cultural exchange, community-building, women’s empowerment, and mental health awareness with events held in Guatemala, Mexico, Egypt, and Germany.
