Whenever Manchester City and Chelsea have faced each other in any competition for the past few seasons the odds are always in favour of the Champions because of how dominant they have been in the past fixtures.

Chelsea face a huge task to end Manchester City’s unbeaten run when they take a trip to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, February 17, 2024. The Cityzens were coming off a victory in the league and the UEFA Champions League against Everton and RB Salzburg.

The Blues had to come from behind to beat struggling Crystal Palace 3-1 on Monday, February 12, 2024, they will need to step up their game if they are going to get a positive result in Manchester. The last time both teams met, it was an eight-goal thriller in Stamford Bridge as the game ended 4-4.

Team news:

Manchester City:

The Cityzens will be without Jack Grealish who suffered a muscular injury in midweek in the Champions League while Bernardo Silva is doubtful after he picked a big knock on his ankle. Josko Gvardiol remains sidelined with an ankle ligament issue, however, Matteo Kovacic could be available for selection.

Chelsea:

The Blues have a long list of injuries that includes Wesley Fofana, Reece James, Benoit Badiashile, Romeo Lavia, Lesley Ugochukwu and Marc Cucurella. Thiago Silva came off against Palace with a groin issue and will need to be assessed in the coming days.

Head to Head:

The last five games between Manchester City and Chelsea have seen City record four wins and record just one draw which was their last meeting in November 2023.

City have won their last five games in the league and across all competitions while Chelsea have recorded three wins in their last five league games.
