Nigerian veteran singer Maxi Kabiesi, born Abidoye Oluwaseyi Kazeem, has opened up about his journey in the music industry and his connection with Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy.
In a recent interview with Lucky Urdu, the Port Harcourt-raised artist reflected on his influence during the late 2000s and his impact on rising talents at the time.
Maxi Kabiesi revealed that Burna Boy once looked up to him in his early career days and shared that they worked together when Burna returned to Nigeria to launch his music journey. The singer recounted being just 21 years old when he dropped his popular 2008 hit ChocoMilo, a track that gained wide recognition and cemented his name in the industry.
However, Maxi also spoke candidly about the struggles he faced, particularly after signing with a record label that stalled his career progress. Despite these setbacks, the seasoned artist remains optimistic about the future.
He proudly announced his latest collaboration with fellow Port Harcourt star Duncan Mighty on a new single titled Carry Go. Expressing his determination to reclaim his spot in the music scene, Maxi also called on Burna Boy to show support, stating he still has what it takes to reconnect with fans and make a strong comeback.
