Afrobeats star Mayorkun has hinted that he might leave Nigeria, saying the hardships in the country are becoming too much to handle.
Popular Afrobeats singer Emmanuel Adewale, better known as Mayorkun, has hinted at the possibility of leaving Nigeria due to the country’s ongoing economic challenges.
The Mayor of Lagos crooner took to his X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday to express his thoughts, writing, “I dey reason to japa”, which translates to “I’m considering relocating.”
Mayorkun’s statement has sparked conversations among fans and social media users, reigniting discussions about the increasing number of Nigerian celebrities choosing to move abroad in search of better opportunities.
In the past decade, notable figures in the entertainment industry, including Banky W, Tacha, eLDee, Dr. Sid, Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Rita Dominic, Uche Jombo, and Emeka Ike, have relocated overseas for various reasons.
While Mayorkun is yet to confirm if he should leave Nigeria or not, his remarks highlight a growing trend among Nigerian entertainers seeking greener pastures beyond the country’s borders.
