In a city where dreams either survive or get swallowed whole, Ned-Boii is carving his own lane — and he didn’t start in the studio. He started in a suit.
Born October 22, 1999, in Lagos, Nigeria, Ohazurume Chinedu Belonwu — now known professionally as Ned-Boii — hails from Imo State. He attended Mea Mater Elizabeth High School in Enugu and graduated in 2019 from the University of Ghana with a B.A. in Political Science and Archaeology.
But before the mic, there was the 9-to-5. And he played that game well.
Ned-Boii spent five years rising in the banking and fintech sectors. He began at Polaris Bank as an Asset & Liability Manager in the Treasury Department, then moved to Wema Bank as a Treasury Sales Specialist. Most recently, he worked at Fincra Technologies Ltd as an FX Sales Expert.
“I was treated well everywhere I worked. But a man should do what he loves,” he says.“I have an immense passion for music… and I’m a very intense man.”
That intensity poured into his debut single, “On Rolling,” released in December 2024. The track created noticeable waves across Lagos Island, offering a gritty, authentic taste of what Ned-Boii brings to the scene.
His sound? Raw. Real. Unfiltered.
“I’m a street artist. I talk about my life — the highs, the lows. That’s where my truth is.”
Influenced by the likes of Wizkid, Burna Boy, Shallipopi, Olamide, Phyno, and Jeriq, Ned-Boii delivers a rhythmic blend of street poetry and soul. Now signed to Too Clean Records, he’s preparing to drop his debut EP, Ajonwa’s Return, expected later this year or early next.
“On Rolling was an entry,” he says. “Ajonwa’s Return is a statement.”
From bank vaults to street vibes, Ned-Boii is living proof that your path doesn’t have to be linear — it just has to be real.
