There’s a fresh twist in the ongoing legal battle between gospel star Mercy Chinwo and her former record label, EeZee Conceptz, as the label’s Managing Director, Nancy Nnadi, popularly known as Coach Nancy, has publicly withdrawn her earlier allegations against the singer.
In a statement shared via her Instagram page over the weekend, Nancy retracted the explosive claims she made against Chinwo, which had accused the singer of financial misconduct. The move comes amid mounting legal pressure and mediation efforts from senior figures in Nigeria’s gospel community.
“On the advice of my lawyer, and for the sake of peace and the love of God, I retract my earlier post about Minister Mercy Chinwo. I also pray that Almighty God perfects the ongoing settlement process being facilitated by the Fathers of Faith between her and EeZee Conceptz,” Nancy wrote.
This development follows the $345,000 royalty lawsuit filed by Mercy Chinwo in January 2025 against EeZee Conceptz founder, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu (EeZee Tee), alleging diversion of music royalties. The suit came two years after the singer’s departure from the label over financial disagreements.
In the heat of the legal tussle, Coach Nancy took to social media to accuse Chinwo of “financial manipulation,” a post that was later deleted. The singer swiftly responded with a defamation suit, demanding a public apology, retraction, and removal of the damaging posts.
Sources familiar with the case confirm that respected clerics from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) have stepped in to mediate between both parties. Nancy’s recent statement hints at a possible reconciliation as talks to resolve the royalty dispute continue.
The gospel music industry now watches closely as the high-profile disagreement inches towards what many hope will be an amicable settlement.
