Arsenal’s head coach, Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Martin Odeegard will retain his place as the club captain going into the 2025/26 season.
Arteta was speaking in his first pre-match press conference of the season ahead of the blockbuster against Manchester United at Old Trafford. According to him, the decision to appoint Martin Ødegaard was unanimous among the players after the voting process was concluded.
He said,
“Our captain? Everybody chose the same person, which was Martin Ødegaard, which is the most clear sign that you can have.”
The Norwegian international has been the captain of the team for the past two seasons and will hope that he can lead them to winning the Premier League title this season.
He also spoke about the possibility of Arsenal winning the Premier League title this season after finishing second three times consecutively.
“You keep digging, digging, digging and you have to be digging because one day the gold is going to be there. For three seasons we’ve had more points than any other team in this league, which is incredible. That’s all about the consistency”.
Arsenal begin their campaign with a trip to Old Trafford and will hope they will take all three points or at least avoid a defeat.
