Mo Salah has joined the long list of footballers who have reacted to Tottenham’s historic 2025 Europa League win.
Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United in last night’s Europa League final not only marked a significant moment in the club’s history but also drew reactions from across the football world.
Among those offering their thoughts was Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, who delivered a pointed yet respectful remark about Tottenham winning their first trophy in over 17 years and in the second season of Ange Postecoglou’s leadership.
“He did say he’d win in his second season. Congratulations,” Salah said in a post on his X, referring to the Tottenham head coach’s earlier comments about his history of securing silverware in his second year in charge.
The remark, while brief, resonated widely. Tottenham’s manager had indeed mentioned in his previous press conference that he tends to win trophies in his second season; a bold statement that has now materialised with a major European title.
Tottenham have not had the best 2024/2025 club football season, especially in the Premier League, and as such, the win is regarded as one for the books.
The final against Manchester United showcased those qualities, with Spurs executing their game plan, which was a style of play unusual from the typical Ange tactics of attacking with efficiency and maturity. The result brought an end to a 16-year trophy drought for the North London club and gave weight to the coach’s self-assured claims.
He did say he’d win in his second season. Congratulations!
