The 2024/25 season will be remembered by Liverpool supporters as one when they won their second Premier League title and Mohamed Salah signed a contract extension with the club.

There were initial reports that Mohamed Salah would leave Liverpool at the end of his contract which expires this season ( 2024/25). However, events changed within a twinkle of an eye after it was confirmed on the club’s website on Friday, April 11, 2025 that the Egyptian King signed a two-year deal which would keep him at Anfield until 2027.

The first trophy that Salah is setting his sights on is the Premier League, where Liverpol currently lead Arsenal with 11-points with seven matches remaining. He is keen to lift the trophy a second time, having won it in 2019/20, especially as the first title was claimed during the COVID-19 pandemic when fans were unable to attend Anfield.

What did Mohamed Salah say about his new contract?

He expressed his delight on the club’s website after his contract extension was announced. According to him, the decision to sign a new contract was because he believed that more trophies would be won at the club.

“Of course I’m very excited, we have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football. It is great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it’s going to be 10. Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career. I would like to say to [the fans], I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together. Keep supporting us and we’ll give it our best, and hopefully in the future we’re going to win more trophies.”
