MTN has been deeply involved in the music industry in Nigeria and across Africa, significantly promoting and supporting artists, concerts, and music distribution.
A few of Nigeria’s favourite musicians were once contestants on two of the biggest music reality shows hosted by MTN. Darey Art Alade, Iyanya, Chidinma, Praiz, Niniola and Johnny Drille, came into the limelight through the Project Fame reality show. Some musicians have also earned revenue from the MTN Caller Tunes service, and the telecommunication giants also sponsor concerts and events like the MTN Music Festival and Y’ello Star.
With the evolving technological landscape, many music-on-demand platforms allow users to listen to their favourite podcasts, radio stations, and music videos with one subscription.
Since streaming has become an integral part of our lives, MTN’s investment in the music industry has extended towards enhancing the experience of listeners through partnerships with platforms like Apple Music, Audiomack and Boomplay.
These partnerships help make music more accessible and affordable for subscribers, especially in regions with limited access to traditional music services. Recognising Apple Music as one of the premier streaming platforms in Nigeria which houses millions of local and international songs that cater to everyone’s taste, MTN partnered with the platform in 2023, to offer its subscribers a six-month-free streaming offer on Apple Music.
Now, the ICT company has extended the terms of its partnership with the launch of its Flexa Bundle, aimed at delivering seamless subscription service to Apple Music users in Nigeria. The innovative solution allows music enthusiasts to subscribe to Apple Music using their airtime, while also offering affordable data allowance to enable streaming.
With this collaboration, the Flexa Bundle reduces the perceived high cost of accessing digital content for its customers so they can enjoy their favourite tracks and playlists without worrying about data or incurring additional costs.
MTN’s Apple Music Subscription Offer: A Game-Changer for Music Lovers
The ability to subscribe to Apple Music using airtime transforms the user experience for MTN customers by making the process more seamless and user-friendly. Instead of dealing with complicated payment methods, users can manage their subscriptions directly through their mobile accounts, simplifying the entire process.
This integration ensures a frictionless experience, where customers can easily subscribe, and renew, without needing to leave the platform or provide additional payment details. The convenience and ease of managing everything from one place enhances accessibility, making it straightforward for anyone with an MTN line to enjoy uninterrupted music streaming.
Customers can easily subscribe or renew their subscription with their airtime, to access Apple Music’s extensive benefits for as low as Nf1,750 per month, including 1GB of data to stream on the go. This comes in three offers, providing 1GB + Apple Music subscription for N1,750/30days, 5GB + Apple Music subscription for N3,250/30days, or 15GB + Apple Music subscription for N6,250/30days of data, and is available to both prepaid and postpaid customers on iOS and Android devices.
Speaking about the bundle, the Chief Digital Officer, MTN Nigeria, A’isha Umar-Mumuni, said “We launched a six-month free Apple Music offer in 2023, and are excited to continue to work with the music streaming platform to provide our customers with easy access to stream their favourite songs and discover more music.”
“Music is a huge part of our lives and culture, and we’re always looking for ways to innovate and enhance the digital experience for our customers. With this collaboration, the music streaming experience is now simpler and affordable for our customers. You subscribe with airtime and get data to stream anything you want. Apple Music stands out because of its user experience and its catalogue of both global and local music.”
