Music Factory Records is thrilled to announce the release of “The Clinic,” the latest sonic musical piece from guitar virtuoso Ari Joshua. This shape-shifting musical piece has become an anthem for Joshua, who has performed it with a variety of lineups over the years. Now, it’s finally hit the studio in its rawest, most electrifying incarnation yet. This version showcases a stripped-down boogaloo organ trio, featuring Skerik on saxophone, Delvon Lamarr on Hammond organ, and Grant Schroff on drums.

In contrast to the psychedelic rendition released by Joshua’s RAaR Trio, this new take offers a raw, traditional approach while still embracing the rich, experimental sound that Joshua has become known for. Recorded under the expert guidance of Jason Gray, bassist for Polyrhythmics, and engineered by the celebrated Mell Dettmer, “The Clinic” delivers a unique auditory experience. Classic reverb tanks, vintage tape delays, and layers of analog outboard gear add to its signature sound—a balance of old-school warmth and modern sonic creativity.

Musically, “The Clinic” merges classic and modern influences, rooted in a Hendrix-inspired ‘Sharp 9’ sound. The chord cycle navigates through tritone substitutions and harmonic tension, which the talented trio executes with seamless improvisation. The combination of Joshua’s expressive guitar, Skerik’s bold saxophone improvisations, and Lamarr’s gritty organ lines, anchored by Schroff’s infectious drumming, creates a rich, textured soundscape that blends bebop and boogaloo traditions with improvisational freedom.

Ari Joshua has showcased this track in various live performances, each time adapting its arrangement to fit different musical settings. Whether it’s the cinematic vibe of the RAaR Trio or the traditional boogaloo style heard here, “The Clinic” consistently captivates audiences with its versatility.

“The Clinic” was engineered by Mell Dettmer and Jason Gray, and mastered by Doug Krebs. The accompanying visuals, designed by Deep Groove Designs, reflect the vibrant and evolving nature of the track.
