The monetary gain derived from music streaming is one of the numerous avenues through which artists can boost their income. However, not every artist is the same, and not all songs do as well as their counterparts. Nigerian singer Bad Boy Timz has acknowledged that the revenue from music streams is insufficient to provide artist support.

Singer Olorunyomi Oloruntimilehin, popularly known as Bad Boy Timz, has argued that the revenue generated from music streaming is insufficient for artists. He mentioned that a significant portion of earnings from streaming is often reinvested in music promotion. The afrobeat songwriter suggested that fellow artists should focus on live performances, tours, and securing sponsorships as more lucrative avenues for income.

During his interview with HipTv he said, “As an artist, you cannot depend on music streams because it is not substantial. Most of the earnings from music streams are reinvested on promotion. So, what I do is go on tours. I’m always trying to get Visas to tour different countries. I have been touring for over a year now. So I advised my colleagues to make more money from shows and seek sponsorships.”

The Nigerian artist said he takes his advice and has been touring in the U.S. and Canada. In 2023, he released his debut album, No bad boy, No party.
