Nigerian singer Abdulazeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has spoken out following a court ruling that cleared him and others of any involvement in the tragic death of fellow musician Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad.

On February 25, 2025, Naira Marley, alongside socialite Sam Larry, singer Prime Boy, and others, were found not guilty in Mohbad’s case after months of speculation and legal battles. In response to the court’s decision, Naira Marley took to his official X page to express his emotions, revealing the trauma he endured after being publicly accused.

In the heartfelt message, Naira Marley acknowledged that he and his team, the Marlians, were not perfect and had made mistakes. However, he emphasized that these mistakes were never intentional and were part of their growth and adaptation process.

The singer revealed that he had made peace with Mohbad before his demise. He added that they had understood each other beyond the noise and misunderstandings. Despite this, Naira Marley expressed his pain and disappointment that people who knew the truth still pointed fingers at him after Mohbad’s death.

Naira Marley questioned why people waited until after the death of Mohbad to reveal the truth, instead of speaking up from the beginning. He emphasized that if people had told the truth from the start, Mohbad would have received the rest he deserved. Also, his family would have found closure.

The singer also reflected on the challenges he faced during the prosecution, including being jailed and facing the justice system. Despite the odds against him, Naira Marley chose to stay and face the people instead of running. He expressed his gratitude to God, stating that although he had been broken, he had not been destroyed.

“You never thought I would survive. You never thought I would walk through the fire and face my people. Maybe you hoped I would stay a fugitive. You thought I would run. Instead, I stood before the justice system, spent time in jail, and faced everything head-on while you changed the story again and again,” he stated.

However, Naira Marley prayed that when the truth finally comes to light, people’s hearts would be strong enough to bear it.

“But God sees all. The truth does not shake. The lies will fade, and time will reveal everything. I have been broken, but I am not destroyed. And when the truth finally speaks, I pray your heart is strong enough to bear it,” he wrote.

Naira Marley’s statement has sparked discussions among fans and industry stakeholders. Many questioned how the controversy surrounding Mohbad’s death spiraled into months of accusations. While the court has cleared him of any wrongdoing, the case remains a painful chapter in the Nigerian music industry.

As the dust begins to settle, many are left wondering—will Mohbad finally get the rest he deserves?
