South African rap sensation Nasty C recently shared his list of top 5 Nigerian rappers in an interview with Glitch Africa, shedding light on the evolution of Nigerian Hip Hop and the artists who have significantly contributed to its domestication and commercial success.

At the forefront of Nasty C’s list is the legendary Hip Hop icon and multi-award-winning rapper, M.I Abaga. With a career spanning over a decade, M.I Abaga’s impact on the Nigerian rap scene has been monumental.

Securing the second position is Olamide Baddo, a trailblazer in domesticating rap and elevating Hip Hop’s popularity in Nigeria. Olamide’s influence extends to his status as one of the country’s most awarded, commercially successful, and influential artists.

Taking the third spot is the Igbo-speaking rap star Phyno, recognized for his massive contribution to the dominance of local rap. Phyno’s popularity transcends borders, solidifying his position as one of the continent’s most celebrated rappers.

Nasty C places the rising star ODUMODUBLVCK at the fourth spot, acknowledging his impact on the Nigerian music scene in 2023. ODUMODUBLVCK’s recent release of the deluxe version of ‘EZIOKWU,’ featuring Nasty C on one of the tracks, attests to his rising prominence.
