Newcastle United have rejected the first official bid from Liverpool Football Club for Alexander Isak as they look to bring the forward player to Anfield ahead of next season.

Several news outlets confirmed Newcastle’s rejection on their various platforms on Friday, August 1, 2025. According to reports from the Club, Liverpool’s bid for Isak doesn’t match their valuation for the Swedish international.

What happened between Newcastle United and Alexander Isak?

Alexander Isak submitted his bid to leave Newcastle United just a few days before the Magpies’ pre-season tour. According to reports, the forward player wants a better offer than what he currently earns at the club.

On the other hand, Newcastle missed the signing of Hugo Ekitike and the exit of Callum Wilson, which means their only available striker is Isak, and they are not willing to let him go until they sign a replacement ( Benjamin Sesko) who is also on the radar of Manchester United.

When will Isak contract expire at Newcastle?

Isak’s Newcastle contract has three years remaining, but they have now begun seeking potential replacements in case of his departure, although their stance has remained that he is not for sale.

Newcastle have tried to tie Isak to an improved contract, which would have included a release clause next summer, and encouraged him to remain at the club for the 2025/26 season. But the 25-year-old has not changed his stance, which has been made clear to the club by Isak and his representatives.

Isak has been training at his former club, Real Sociedad, while Eddie Howe’s squad are in South Korea as part of their pre-season tour of Asia. He scored 27 goals in all competitions last season, including one in the Carabao Cup final as Newcastle beat Liverpool 2-1 and ended their 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy.
