The 2024/25 Premier League season is officially ending, and now is the best time to recognize players who have been fantastic all season and also give the best young player of the season (2024/25) award.
Eight fantastic players were shortlisted from over a thousand players who were registered by the 20 clubs at the start of the 2024/25 Premier League season. These players were selected based on their impressive form and how they have helped their team achieve success this season.
Who are the nominees for Premier League young player of the 2024/25 season?
(1) Liam Delap ( Ipswich Town)
Ipswich Town striker Delap is the first player to earn a nomination for the Hublot Young Player of the Season award despite playing for a relegated team. The 22-year-old, who won the PL2 Player of the Season award with Manchester City in 2020/21, having scored 12 of Ipswich’s 35 Premier League goals.
(2) Anthony Elanga ( Nottingham Forest)
Elanga has been a key figure in Forest’s challenge for UEFA Champions League qualification. The 10 assists to his name this season takes him to the joint-third most among all players, being the fourth Forest player to reach double figures for assists in a Premier League season.
(3) Ryan Gravenberch ( Liverpool)
Ryan Gravenberch who is also nominated for the best player award has been the heartbeat of Arne Slot’s champions, playing a pivotal role as the anchor of Liverpool’s midfield as the Reds won only their second Premier League title. The 22-year-old Dutchman has missed only one match and has won 176 duels, made 67 tackles and 57 interceptions, and contributed in attack with four assists.
(4) Dean Huijsen ( Bournemouth)
The 20-year-old has made 181 clearances and won 114 duels, while also scoring three goals which is a good return for a defender. He has helped Bournemouth set a club record points total for a Premier League season.
(5) Cole Palmer ( Chelsea)
Palmer will be looking to replicate the same feat having won the young player of the year last season. Despite a slow end to the campaign, 23-year-old Palmer has 15 goals and eight assists, with only four players able to better his goal-involvement tally of 23. He became the first player in Premier league history to score four goals in the first half of a match, a feat he achieved against Bournemouth.
(6) Joao Pedro (Brighton)
The Brazilian has been a star of head coach Fabian Hurzeler’s debut Premier League season. He has surpassed his best-ever top-flight goals total, scoring 10 times, while also contributing with six assists.
(7) Morgan Rogers ( Aston Villa)
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a stunning first full season with Aston Villa, producing eight goals and nine assists in their quest to finish in the UEFA Champions League position.
(8) William Saliba ( Arsenal)
Saliba has been one of the best defenders in the Premier League for the last two seasons. Arsenal have conceded the fewest goals of all teams, with 33, with the Frenchman contributing to 12 clean sheets.
The winner will be confirmed after the accumulation of public votes will be combined with those of a panel of football experts to decide the winner, which will be revealed on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
