Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has spoken candidly about the personal and emotional backlash he faced after publicly endorsing Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

In a recent interview, the Declan Rice hitmaker recounted a heartfelt moment when he finally met the former Anambra State governor and shared the weight of criticism he endured for supporting him during the heated campaign season.

“When I saw him, I said, ‘Sir, good morning. Because of you, they are insulting me online.’ Everybody knows I came out to support you,” Odumodublvck revealed.

Odumodublvck clarified that his decision to back Peter Obi wasn’t driven by politics but by personal conviction, even though it came with heavy backlash from fans and industry observers.

“I didn’t need Peter Obi to save me. I even mentioned it in my music. It takes guts for an artist to publicly endorse a presidential candidate, and I paid the price for it,” he said.

Odumodublvck further shared that while his father discouraged him from voting, it was his 68-year-old mother who insisted on accompanying him to the polling unit to cast his vote.

Now with the release of his fifth studio project The Machine Is Coming, the rapper emphasized that he seeks Obi’s support not for political reasons but as a fellow Nigerian entrepreneur trying to grow his brand.

“This is bigger than music, this is business. I’m building something here, and I need allies,” he concluded.

His honest revelation has sparked fresh conversations online about the challenges artists face when navigating politics and public perception in Nigeria’s entertainment space.
