Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has opened up about the incident that saw his microphone cut off during his acceptance speech at the 2025 Headies Awards.

Recall that on April 27, 2025, the Declan Rice crooner took home the highly coveted Next Rated Award at the 17th edition of the Headies. However, while delivering an emotional and lengthy acceptance speech on stage alongside his entourage, Odumodublvck’s microphone was abruptly muted, sparking mixed reactions online.

Days after the incident, the rapper took to his official X page to shed light on what truly happened. According to him, his mic was turned off because he began speaking about Jesus Christ on stage. He claimed that if his speech had been about the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, he wouldn’t have been interrupted.

Despite the situation at the Headies Awards, Odumodublvck maintained there was no animosity towards the organisers and expressed gratitude for having his microphone eventually restored, which allowed him to complete his speech.

In his post, he wrote: “I WAS TALKING ABOUT JESUS AND THEY TRIED TO SHUT ME DOWN. I AM HUNDRED PERCENT SURE THAT IF I WAS TALKING ABOUT HIS EXCELLENCY GOVERNOR BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN CUT OFF. I GENUINELY HAVE NO BAD BLOOD TOWARDS THE HEADIES, RATHER, I AM GRATEFUL THEY PUT MY MIC BACK ON TO SPREAD THE GOSPEL. JESUS IS KING. HE IS BEFORE NOW AND FOREVER.”

The statement has since sparked conversations on social media, with many applauding the rapper’s boldness and unwavering faith.

I WAS TALKING ABOUT JESUS AND THEY TRIED TO SHUT ME DOWN.

I AM HUNDRED PERCENT SURE THAT IF I WAS TALKING ABOUT HIS EXCELLENCY GOVERNOR BABAJIDE SANWO- OLU I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN CUT OFF.

I GENUINELY HAVE NO BAD BLOOD TOWARDS THE HEADIES,

RATHER, I AM GRATEFUL THEY PUT MY MIC…
