Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has shared valuable insights, cautioning fellow artists against harboring dislike for Grammy-winning musician Wizkid.
In a recent interview in Toronto with Elsie, Odumodublvck stated that disliking Wizkid can have adverse effects on one’s own success in the music industry. Also, he emphasized this point while discussing potential collaborations with Wizkid.
“I wouldn’t be upset if Wizkid and I collaborated on a song and he didn’t promote it on his page,” Odumodublvck stated. He clarified that he doesn’t expect featured artists to promote their joint work on social media.
Meanwhile, Odumodublvck noted that some artists can come across as superior when collaborating. However, he adopts a laid-back approach.
“There are artists who make you feel like they’re doing you a favor by collaborating,” he said. “I’ve never asked a featured artist to post our song. Giving me a verse is the most important thing.”
Additionally, he reinforced his point using Wizkid as an example: “If Wizkid gives me a verse and my album drops, but he doesn’t post about it, I won’t be angry.”
Lastly, Odumodublvck’s parting words served as a warning to fellow artists: “If you start hating on Wizkid Machala, you lose.”
If Wizkid gives me a verse & my album comes and he doesn’t post about it, I will not be angry.
