Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace on a five-year deal which will see him remain with the Bavarians until 2029.

The French International was confirmed on the official website of Bayern Munich on Sunday, July 7, 2024. Michael Olise was initially linked with a move to Premier League clubs, Chelsea and Newcastle United but he opted to move to the Bundesliga to join Vincent Kompany.

He expressed his delight about joining Bayern Munich on the club’s website during his first interview.

He said,

“The talks with FC Bayern were very positive, and I am very happy to now be playing for such a big club. It’s a great challenge, and that’s exactly what I was looking for. I want to prove myself at this level and play my part in ensuring that we win as many titles as possible with our team in the coming years.”

How much did Bayern pay for Michael Olise?

Bayern Munich paid almost £60 million for Olise which was the buy-out clause placed on the midfielder by Crystal Palace.

Olise came through the youth systems at Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City before joining Reading, where he made his senior debut in March 2019. He moved to Crystal Palace for the 2021/22 season, where he scored 16 goals and provided 25 assists in 90 competitive appearances.

He has been selected in the France squad for the Olympics that start in Paris later this month.
