As per the media powerhouse Billboard, the eligibility period for the 2024 BET Awards spans from March 2023 to March 2024. This period allows for the inclusion of all songs and albums released within this timeframe, making them eligible for nomination consideration at the awards ceremony.
Artists who have experienced significant success during this time period are also eligible for nomination.
African songs and artists that didn’t receive a nomination at the BET Awards
Davido
After the release of his Grammy-nominated Timeless album, many believe that Davido’s international success skyrocketed, firmly establishing him as one of the most accomplished African artists on the global stage.
Following the album’s release, the singer embarked on a worldwide tour, captivating audiences in some of the most prestigious venues across the US, UK, and Canada.
However, fans and industry observers were surprised and disappointed when Davido’s name was not included in the list of nominees for the Best International Act at the BET Awards 2024.
Rema
Despite winning multiple awards and hosting an iconic sold-out concert at the O2 Arena in 2023, the singer and performer Rema was not included in the list of nominees for the 2024 BET Awards.
