Manchester City’s forward player, Erling Haaland has been criticised by some ex-players and journalists following his poor form against Arsenal.
Pep Guardiola defended the Norwegian while he spoke during his post-match conference ahead of the league game against Aston Villa. According to him, the reason City did not create enough chances against Arsenal was not because of Haaland.
He said,
“The reason we didn’t create enough chances vs Arsenal is not from Erling. We need more presence in the final third, with more people. We played an exceptional game but we missed more people in the final third. But Erling is exceptional”.
He also spoke about Roy Keane’s comments by comparing Haaland to a League 2 player.
“I am not agreeing with him, absolutely not. He is the best striker in the world and helped us to win what we won last season. He’s exceptional”.
The game against Arsenal at the Etihad was the first time in 57 matches that City failed to score at home. That result puts Guardiola’s men in third place, three points behind league leaders, Liverpool.
