One of the most mouth-watering fixtures to look out for in the quarter-final of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League is the clash between Real Madrid and Manchester City.
This draw means both teams will be meeting in the knock-out stage of the tournament for the third consecutive season. Real Madrid came out victorious in the 2021/22 season while Manchester City won the tie over both legs last season (2022/23).
Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola reacted to the draw while he was speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of the FA Cup quarter-final game against Newcastle. According to him, it is beginning to look more like a tradition with the way his team has been drawn against Real Madrid in recent seasons.
He said,
“It looks like little bit of a tradition, three years in a row playing the kings of the competition. Hopefully we arrive in a good moment. Second leg at home, it is what it is.”
Manchester City will be hoping they can successfully defend the title they won at the expense of Inter Milan last season.
