The rush of a crush is exhilarating. The anticipation of seeing them again, or getting another text, gives you a serotonin kick like no other, and Porcelain Moon tap into this energy perfectly on their latest single “Sugar Rush.”
It feels like a great throwback to the best of 2010-era pop. A whimsical splash of fun, the song mixes dreamy pop with groovy textures—and is a great reminder of how well Porcelain Moon can tap into a mood. In fact, they completely shifted my mind out of the Joburg freeze, to a happier, summer time.
Summer is the primary theme of the track’s accompanying video. Playing on a classic rom-com meet-cute, the video tells the tale of two people seeing each other for the first time, and falling in love, with a striking colour palette that is perhaps the best thing about this visual.
It’s freezing outside, but Porcelain Moon are getting me all warm and fuzzy inside, and they’re poised for a massive September release with their upcoming album, which you can pre-save here.
