Ange Postecoglou in his latest press conference has responded to questions on the future of Timo Werner at Tottenham.

Ange Postecoglou has opened up about Timo Werner’s future at Tottenham Hotspur, following a performance against Tamworth that drew mixed reactions from fans. Werner, who is currently on loan from RB Leipzig, has struggled to find his rhythm with the team.

Despite an impressive career that includes winning the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea and claiming the FIFA Confederations Cup Golden Boot in 2017, his form at Tottenham has fallen short of expectations.

His uncertain future at the club has become a talking point, and there is speculation that his loan spell could be cut short in the January transfer window. Postecoglou’s comments suggest that while Werner has potential, his position in the squad remains precarious, with a possible return to RB Leipzig on the horizon.

Werner’s career has been a rollercoaster, featuring a record-breaking stint at RB Leipzig, where he became the club’s all-time leading scorer, and a challenging period with Chelsea, where he struggled for form. Despite these ups and downs, his talent is undeniable, making his next move a story worth watching.

Reports indicate that Tottenham is considering terminating Werner’s loan deal early after his underwhelming showing against Tamworth in the FA Cup. With the January transfer window approaching, the decision on his future could come soon.

Addressing the situation, Postecoglou said, “The last thing I want right now is to lose another player. The other night, after Rodrigo (Bentancur) went off, we had 11 first-team players unavailable. At this stage, we’re not letting anyone leave.”

He added, “My comments were simply how I felt at the time. Werner has made an impact, including last weekend when his speed proved valuable late in the game. His attitude has never been a concern—he trains well and approaches the game professionally. I felt, given his seniority and our circumstances, he could have done more in that match. However, since then, he’s contributed as expected, and there have been no issues with his commitment.”
