The most talked about football match heading into this weekend’s in the Premier League is the game between Manchester City and Arsenal.
The match is crucial in determining which team might end up winning the league title when the season ends in May 2024. The Gunners lead the league table with one point ahead of Liverpool and Manchester City in second and third place respectively.
However, the body in charge of selecting referees for every match in the league has announced one of the most controversial referees in the league, Anthony Taylor as the one who will be in charge of the game between the Gunners and the Cityzens.
Taylor has made many poor decisions in Premier League games this season, one of which was his contentious judgement during Wolverhampton Wanderers’ 2-2 draw with Newcastle United at the Molineux.
A penalty was awarded after Wolves striker Hwang Hee-chan was judged to have caught Fabian Schar while attempting to clear the ball out of the box. Even though Hwang scored the game’s equaliser later on, Wolves manager Gary O’Neil later called the penalty call “disgraceful.” This poor decision saw Taylor demoted to the Championship for a week.
The supporters of Arsenal and Manchester City will hope that Taylor gets all decisions spot on when the game kicks off at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, March 31, 2024.
