Here are the reactions of fans to the recently concluded Trace Awards held in Tanzania on Wednesday, February 27, 2025.

The 2025 Trace Awards took place on February 26 at The Mora Resort in Zanzibar, Tanzania, honouring the vibrancy and diversity of African music. The event highlighted various genres such as Afrobeats, dancehall, hip-hop, and Afropop, with artists from over 30 nations competing across 24 categories.

Nigerian artists made a strong impact, with Rema securing multiple awards, including Album of the Year, Best Music Video, and Best Male Artist. D’banj was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award, while Mercy Chinwo won Best Gospel Music. The ceremony featured electrifying performances from D’banj, Yemi Alade, Rema, Wally Seck, and Diamond Platnumz.

However, despite the celebratory atmosphere, fans voiced frustrations on social media over technical difficulties during live performances and concerns regarding the event’s organization. Additionally, influencer Priscilla Ojo and her husband, Juma Jux, attracted attention for their stylish appearance.

The Trace Awards aim to celebrate the contributions of artists and industry professionals, fostering a sense of pride and ownership within the African music landscape.

See some of the reactions of fans:

Very appalling show. Street parties are better organised.University shows are way organised.

What went wrong? Organisers?Host?Artists?Sponsors?

How does a Music station fail so woefully at organising a Music Awards show?

You need to trace back your step.#TraceAwards2025

What a production disaster, poor sound, bad lighting, faulty screens, and presenters sharing one mic (no branding no nothing), i lost it at the AI generated videos.

Idk if its the venue or the production

Rwanda could never. #TraceAwards #TraceAwards2025

Trace TV failed us today, the live experience is just worst, breaks all over the event and it’s almost 1 am, only two awards and a few performances.#TraceAwards2025
