Nigerian Afrobeats star Divine Ikubor, professionally known as Rema, has officially announced POP Boys as the winners of his viral Kelebu dance challenge.
The Mavin Records singer launched the challenge following the release of his high-energy single Kelebu on July 26, 2025. The track, driven by bold horn instrumentation and electrifying rhythms, sparked major online excitement prior to its release, with fans and creatives eagerly anticipating its debut.
Critics, including Native Magazine, have noted that Kelebu blends sonic influences from Dominica’s uptempo dance music, Cameroon’s Makossa, and Côte d’Ivoire’s Coupé-décalé, genres rooted in French-speaking regions of the Caribbean and Africa. These global elements reflect Rema’s commitment to pushing Afrobeats into new musical territories.
To amplify the song’s reach and engagement, Rema issued a challenge via X (formerly Twitter) on July 27, declaring: “$10K for whoever comes up with an EASY dance for KELEBU. out this Friday!”
Since then, the hashtag #kelebudancechallenge has trended across platforms, with hundreds of dance videos submitted by creators hoping to win the prize.
On August 7, Rema shared a video of TikTok sensations POP Boys showcasing an infectious and crowd-pleasing routine to Kelebu. He declared them the official winners, writing: “Come get ur money #kelebudancechallenge.”
In addition to the $10,000 cash prize, POP Boys will feature in the official music video for Kelebu and will have the opportunity to join Rema on a video call.
The challenge marks another milestone in Rema’s global rise, further blending digital fan engagement with his innovative sound.
